The decision for me to go to Foothill Technology High School was squarely based upon if I’d been accepted or not due to the lottery system. When I heard that you had to get in to Foothill by lottery, I was excited but at the same time, frightened. What if I didn’t make it in? What about all my friends that go there? Would they make it in? All these questions were answered by my step-mom one day in 8th grade after a Ventura Packers football game. I wanted to go to Foothill because it would give me an edge against people who go to Ventura or Buena because Foothill is a college prep school. Not only would this look good on my record, but it would help me get into the 7 choices of universities I have after my senior year of high school. Also, since I want to be a professional athlete when I grow up, Foothill’s getting sports my sophomore year of high school. You can bet that scouts from all over would be crawling throughout the Foothill sports system. My first day of school wasn’t so bad. The classes seemed easy, fun, and would help me succeed all four years of my high school life and career. All of my classes have one or more of my friends in them, so it wouldn’t be too bad. The only challenging thing about my classes is tests and keeping up on the homework. Especially in Biology class. I seemed more nervous at the orientation than I did on the first day of school. Maybe it was because that day I had a major adrenaline rush or something. Getting used to the campus was pretty easy since there’s not that big of a campus, but the G-Pods and the J-Pods and so on……got really confusing. I’m pretty used to it by now though. I like the staff, my teachers are nice, and I feel like I’m in a healthy and good learning environment. I’m confident that I will like all my four short but long years of high school here at Foothill Technology High. School so far has gotten pretty routine and familiar. I have a usual hang-out spot and my usual group of friends. My classes have been confusing in some subjects, but I got the hang of it. I’ve learned a lot in Spanish so far, but I still have much to learn. Biology is easy if you pay attention and keep up on your homework. English is pretty easy since I already know how to read, write, and write a four page essay, but I’m not going to do that on this assignment. I’m sure Mr. Geib has that planned for all his classes in the near future. Geography/Health is super easy since you just have to pay attention and take notes to get an A in the class. EDA is challenging and confusing, but I’ll get the hang of it. Algebra 1 is easy, so I just have to work hard to reach Geometry level mathematics. Sports, well there just sports. I play football, basketball, and baseball. Right now I’m playing Buena football, but I’ll be playing Foothill basketball and baseball. So I plan to have the best four high school years of my life at Foothill Technology High School. Thanks for listening.
